ADDDAM selects Additive Industries’ 3D metal printer MetalFABG2 for expansion in the automotive and machine engineering industry

ADDDAM selects MetalFABG2 for expansion in automotive industry

Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 24 July 2023 – 3D metal printer manufacturer Additive Industries installed its MetalFABG2 3D metal printer at ADDDAM, a volume flexible metal processing and production solutions supplier. The printer has been installed at ADDDAM's facility in Brixen, making it Additive Industries’ first customer in Italy.

Accessing the die-casting industry with strong partners
ADDDAM has acquired the MetalFABG2 printer to access the die-casting industry. With this purchase, ADDDAM aims to become a leading producer of complex aluminium parts for the automotive and machine engineering sectors, combining core competencies of sister companies Alupress and Durst Group with metal additive manufacturing.

The automotive industry is changing rapidly due to the shift to electric vehicles and changes in customer behaviour. Hand in hand with Alupress, ADDDAM offers prototyping and initial testing, with the ability to transition to and back from high-pressure die-casting as volumes grow or the product life-cycle reaches its end and volumes decline, providing flexibility to adapt to forecasting volumes for electric vehicles.

For ADDDAM to be successful in this venture, they have identified four key mission ingredients: focus, environment, automation and quality. Complying with these mission ingredients has led ADDDAM to choose Additive Industries’ MetalFABG2 as its metal AM printer for delivering high-quality die-cast replacement parts. They chose Additive Industries' MetalFABG2 due to its high level of automation and material efficiency, which lowers costs, increases competitiveness, and improves resilience to workforce changes.

Mathias Wiese, Chief Executive Officer at ADDDAM: “We are very excited to partner with Additive Industries to move forward in our next step: complimenting the die-casting industry. The MetalFABG2 printer will be a valuable new asset to accommodate us in this next stage.”

Mark Massey, Chief Executive Officer at Additive Industries: “We as Additive Industries are very pleased to be able to provide ADDDAM with our MetalFABG2 printer to support them in their expansion towards the automotive and machine engineering industry.”

ADDDAM will be hosting its first ever AM Tech Day together with partners and customers at Durst Kraftwerk in Brixen, Italy. Please find more information about the event here.
