Function Description:

Additive Industries is looking for a Senior AM Process Engineer to join our Process & Material Development team. In this team, you participate in the development of material processing sets for an advanced industrial 3D printer. Your challenge will be the development of the 3D printing process for specific materials on our systems.

Additive Industries successfully launched their industrial metal Additive Manufacturing system, the MetalFAB. To support our customers, we develop the printing process for different materials and new applications, and provide solutions for simulation and process monitoring of the printing process.

The Senior AM Process Engineer is responsible for the development of robust print process parameters and specific applications for customers. Furthermore, you take part in process development within R&D projects, such as the validation of process monitoring technology or new hardware and software. Based on the results the Senior Process Engineer discusses possible improvements with our design team and partners and helps to implement these in the MetalFAB system.

In all of these development activities, you mentor the Junior AM Process engineers in the specification, execution, and reporting of all these development activities. You will coach and guide team members of the process & material development team from the initial start of the development projects until completion.

The ingredients for a successful performance are in sum:

  • Define and write statistically valid test plans;
  • Analyse and validate experimental test results and finalize with conclusions;
  • Manage and execute the process development and testing in a structured and precise manner;
  • Work with our build simulation software and process monitoring tooling suppliers to verify and validate the software and process data;
  • Operating the 3D metal printer to print samples and products;
  • Setting up the required test infrastructure;
  • Documenting all test activities;
  • With your strong analytical skills, you can perform root cause analysis on specimens that are out of specification.
  • Supporting R&D team in developing, verifying, maturing, and improving the MetalFAB print process;


The Senior AM Process Engineer reports to the Process & Material Development Manager.

Knowledge and Experience


Master in Material Science, Physics or Mechanical Engineering.


  • Experience with conducting experimental research
  • Experience with Laser Powder Bed Fusion
  • Experience in guiding junior team members
  • Strong background in process development, verification and validation
  • Analytically strong and systematic problem-solving mentality
  • Project management and black belt skills are a plus
  • Experience in material analysis tooling
  • Pragmatic and hands-on mentality
  • 5 years of industrial experience with process and material development
  • Knowledge of ASTM quality standards related to AM is a plus
