Gas turbine nozzles are currently the area of highest interest. These parts are similar to the nozzles already 3D printed in aviation applications. Across many different industries, people are discovering that additive manufacturing can provide them with reliable production of high-end nozzles. The internal topology of these nozzles, nozzle shapes and pathways can be optimized in novel ways. Companies are starting to rethink the nozzle as something that is ripe for redesign in light of the possibilities that 3D printing provides. Engineers can design these and other parts out of fewer components. Reducing the number of components reduces assembly time and cost while also reducing the amount of tooling one needs to invest in and keep. Moreover, the performance is substantially increased because of less interfaces and connections.
