Job mission

The Product Manager is responsible for the long-term profitable growth and marketing of the portfolio offering to target market segments by developing and managing it through all its’ life cycle phases according to market needs and product strategy. The Product Manager owns the roadmap and must prioritize what matters most to achieve the strategic goal and initiatives of the product and the business.

The key aspects of the role are:

Market Analysis:

  • Leads market intelligence analysis
  • Defines market segmentation and related product positioning
  • Identifies potential gaps in portfolio, both against competition and new market opportunity

Portfolio Offering:

  • Manages existing products, new product launch and leads life cycle management process from phase-in to phase-out to ensure current and future market requirements are met
  • Owns the product road map and is proactive about achieving the schedule. Defines and oversees recovery plans as necessary
  • Owns the technical and market specification for the product and determines a product business plan that supports sustainable growth
  • Tracks and analyses product performance and trends in terms of volume and profitability
  • Defines product customer value proposition per customer segment

Profitability & Pricing

  • Responsible for product profitability and margin
  • Ensures correct pricing is applied for all countries, products/ accessories
  • Partners with the Sales team to deliver compelling quotes/offers to customers
  • Works closely with Finance to ensure full transparency on margins
  • Develops and maintains a global reference price list appropriate to both internal product positioning strategy and competitor offerings

New Product Development

  • Works with the CTO’s organization to propose and evaluate feasibility projects and roadmaps for new products and variants
  • Develop integral proposition based on market and customer insights, including value proposition, supporting claims, pricing strategy, offer design, target customers and markets.
  • Prioritizes product development projects with responsibility for achievement of targets (product characteristics, time, costs, capital expenditure, pay-back) and coordinating cross functional teams
  • Prepares positioning by carefully observing/tracking the competition and anticipating industry trends

Product Market Communication

  • Initiates and drives product market communication strategy, including product launch planning and implementation
  • Collaborates with internal Marketing and Sales teams to define marketing communication activities, training activities and sales initiatives to ensure best market coverage

Reporting

The Product Manager reports to the Strategic Marketing Director.

Knowledge and experience

 Education

  • Degree qualified
  • MBA preferred but not necessary

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in a product management environment
  • Experience in managing road maps, developing strategic plans, creating marketing campaigns, and launching products into the market
  • Strong technical understanding and ability to write product requirements for R&D to develop new products
  • Commercial understanding and experienced in building viable business cases
  • Project management expertise
  • Combined problem-solving and effective prioritization capabilities
  • Effective communicator and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Systematic thinking, influencing and people development skills
  • Leadership and people management experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally
  • Fluency in English, any other language would be an advantage
