Function description

Additive Industries is looking for an Application Engineer to join the Additive Industries Process & Application Development team in Eindhoven. To support our customers, we develop the build process parameters for various materials, develop new applications specific to customers’ requirements and provide solutions for process simulation and monitoring. You are part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team responsible for the development of stable print process parameters for several materials and applications.

As part of our Process & Application Development team, you will be supporting other departments (namely: operations, sales and customer life cycle) to deliver our Additive Industries’ MetalFAB1 system according to high quality standards and aiming for a high customer satisfaction. You will operate the MetalFAB1 system to produce test samples and demo parts, then arrange post processing requirements as necessary and test the printed samples in accordance to the expected specifications. You will analyse the resulting test data, and document all performed tests in test reports, paying an active role in proposing the next steps of any required development activity and contributing to customer feedback and presentations.

The ingredients for a successful performance are in sum:

  • Provide support to your team with preparing print jobs with Materialise Magics or Autodesk Netfabb
  • Operating MetalFAB1 machine to produce samples and products
  • Analyzing experimental results, data analysis and drafting conclusions
  • Documenting all test activities
  • Report encountered issues and propose possible solutions
  • Assess printability of potential customer parts and provide consultation 

Reporting
The Application Engineer reports to the Process & Application Development Manager in Eindhoven

Knowledge and experience
Education:

  • Master degree in mechanical engineering, material engineering, applied physics, industrial design or similar

Experience/skills:

  • Experience as AM application engineer in an industrial environment is a plus
  • Experience with ‘laser powder bed fusion is a plus
  • Experience with CAD software (+2 years)
  • Experience with 3D build preparation software (Magics, Netfabb or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical testing and material characterization
  • Analytically strong and systematic problem-solving mentality
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Pragmatic and hands-on mentality
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Team player able to relate well with people
  • Fluent in English
